Bush Would Still Waterboard Khalid Sheik Mohammed

Former President George W. Bush told the Economic Club of Grand Rapids that, everything being equal, he would still waterboard 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed to get life-saving information.

Out Of Control Crowd Anger

The anger coming out of the right-wing is out of control.

It’s bad enough that they’ve blasted Democrat President George Bush as everything from a terrorist to a chimp to a Nazi for the past eight years with jibes that often take on racial overtones because Bush is African-American.  We all know what you mean when you call someone a “terrorist.”

Last night, the right-wing crowd in Philadelphia booed 6-year-old Piper Obama as she took to the ice with her mother Sarah Obama to drop the puck at a Flyers hockey game.  Vicious, racist hockey crowd.

What? It was Piper Palin and Sarah Palin, and Sarah is the Republican Vice Presidential nominee? George Bush is a white Republican? Well that doesn’t make any sense.  I read about three dozen articles this week about how anger and vitriol and hostile crowds are exclusive to the right and always racist.

Either way, video below.

The majority of blame for our current financial crisis is so clearly shouldered by Democrats that even vicious left-wing hate machine Alec Baldwin can’t help but point it out.

Admittedly, Baldwin is barely competent to string a sentence together let alone perform coherent financial analysis.  Still, the man has not missed an opportunity to slam Republicans and President Bush during the course of his public life. It’s a shame, but very telling, that information dissemination is left to Alec Baldwin while the majority of the leftstream media turns a blind eye.

Even more surprising: Baldwin’s bout of clarity came on this week’s edition of the little-watched Bill Maher HBO smear-fest.

After being featured on Hannity & Colmes in a damning 2004 video showing Democrats fighting tooth-and-nail against greater Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac regulations, Democrat Congressman Artur Davis admits Democrats dropped the ball on reigning in the failed institutions and calls on fellow Democrats to do the same.

Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues, I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership, when in retrospect I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004.  Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit that when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, we were wrong. By the way, I wish my Republican colleagues would admit that they missed the early warning signs that Wall Street deregulation was overheating the securities market and promoting dangerously lax lending practices.  When it comes to the debacle in our capital markets, there is much blame to go around for both sides.”

Along with President Clinton, I take issue with Davis’ contention that equal blame exists on both sides.  President Bush requested greater oversight in 2003, Republicans are clearly seen in the video fighting for greater oversight in 2004, and John McCain led the charge for greater oversight in 2005.  All efforts were rebuffed by Democrats, who demagogued the issue with racial politics that made reform impossible to accomplish.  At least they tried. I see no evidence of any push toward greater Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac oversight since the short bus rolled onto Capitol Hill in January 2007.

That said, I appreciate Congressman Davis’ candor in admitting Democrats let their ideology get in the way of what was right for the country.

Tonight’s Address By President Bush

I’ve mainly stayed out of the way when it comes to the market rescue package.  I’m no economist and I figured there were better sources than me where you could get your information regarding the issue.

That said, there are some common sense things that I’ve been itching to say as I watched elation slowly turn to bitterness and anger regarding the package and the perception that it’s some big pay-out to Wall Street fat cats.

Bush To Screw Up Nation’s DVR Schedules at 9:01 PM

President Bush will deliver a televised address to the nation tonight concerning the credit crisis and proposed government bail out, likely screwing up everyone’s planned recordings of Criminal Minds and CSI: New York’s season premieres.

The address also threatens to derail David Blaine’s live magic show and the gulliable idiots who plan to watch it believing a man can possess magical abilities, viewers also known as Obama voters.

After winning the the Gold Medal in her event, US beach volleyball champion Kerri Walsh took the NBC interviewer’s microphone to deliver a personal message.

I just want to say thank you, Mr. President, for all you do.  Thank you for your inspiration.

Walsh and partner Misty May-Treanor beat the top-seeded Chinese team in a painfully close match played in the pouring rain to win the Gold medal in their event, repeating their 2004 Olympic Gold medal win.  No female beach volleyball team has previously had back to back Gold.
