Maxim Names Hottest News Anchors

Maxim Magazine has named the 10 hottest national TV news anchors (plus Mika Brzezinski for some reason).

The hottest is NBC unknown Amy Robach.  Number Two: Megyn Kelly of FOX News. The only rational explanation for this grievous error is shock value.

Other notables on the list include FOX Business Channel’s Jenna Lee and FOX News Channel’s Julie Banderas.

Then there’s Mika.  Yikes.

Greta Van Susteren tells Bill O’Reilly that FOX News’ Carl Cameron regrets gleefully reporting anonymously sourced and largely debunked gossip about Sarah Palin’s intelligence and behavior.

Bill O’Reilly argues that reporting Sarah Palin’s bathrobe wearing habits and shoe preferences are not gossip and are acceptable topics for anonymously sourced hard journalism pieces.

O’Reilly intimates Van Susteren is not a journalist.

O’Reilly and Van Susteren proclaim mutual love for each other.

If you need more detail, audio from from Bill O’Reilly’s radio show is embedded in the video below.

FOX Hosts Gagged On Obama

FOX News boss Roger Ailes, under reported pressure from the top of News Corp, has issued an order gagging Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren on Barack Obama criticism.

No such edict preventing Carl Cameron from trashing Sarah Palin with anonymous smears, apparently.

Carl Cameron made waves tonight on FOX News Channel as he gleefully reported anonymously sourced material painting Sarah Palin as an idiot and a royal pain in the neck.  Among the charges a giddy Cameron reported as having come from sources inside the McCain campaign: Sarah answered the door in a heavy bathrobe, Sarah loved to shop, and Sarah didn’t know Africa is a continent.

Jeri Thompson, wife of former Senator Fred Thompson and member of Team Sarah, appeared on Hannity & Colmes last night to promote tomorrow’s “Million Woman Townhall” phone call and discuss the manufactured controversy surrounding Sarah Palin’s wardrobe budget.  Following a recent trend, Mrs. Thompson used her air time to smack around the increasingly ineffective Colmes.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich unloaded on the Obamedia during Greta Van Susteren’s On The Record tonight, likening their smear and disinformation campaign against Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin to the way Communist state press treated Poland’s Lech Walesa.

Palin, like Walesa, is seen as a leader coming up from the ranks of the people and taking on the powers that be, a hostile and biased media among them.

…Now, I haven’t seen anyone from the elite media do a live broadcast from the non-existent Katie’s Restaurant to point out that Joe Biden is just out of touch with reality. He’s either dishonest or has a total memory lapse about his hometown. Yet, nobody notices it. Again and again there were 14 factual mistakes by Biden in the vice-presidential debate. Nobody said that disqualified him. This has been a totally one-sided campaign where the news media has been the best ally that Barack Obama has gotten. And we ought to be honest about it. There’s no pretense, not a shred of neutrality on the part of the major networks or The New York Times

I’ve been thinking about having one of my researchers look at every single elite media interview of Governor Palin to see if any of them asked her how she gave $1300 a person back to Alaskans as a tax break, how she negotiated and got so much money out of Big Oil, how she worked out the deal for the natural gas pipeline, or anything of substance about how she shaped an $11 billion budget involving 29,000 employees of the state government.

I don’t believe by the best of my knowledge that there has been a single question by an elite television journalist about her actual career in Alaska.

Video below.

Beck To Depart Headline News For FOX

Conspiracy theorist and economic defeatist Glenn Beck will be leaving CNN’s Headline News for the FOX News Channel in the spring according to FOX (via Politico).

Fox News has announced that conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck is joining the network, leaving behind CNN’s Headline News. Beck will host a show at 5 p.m. on Fox beginning in the spring.

It hasn’t yet been determined when Beck’s last day will be, but I’ve heard from a network source that Headline News was already preparing to re-air “Lou Dobbs Tonight” at 9pm, instead of Beck’s show (which first airs at 7pm). When Beck leaves, Dobbs show will be in the 9pm slot, but no decision on 7pm.

“Glenn has been a terrific employee and colleague to many of us at CNN,” a network spokesperson said in a statement. “We wish him well.”

Following her home-run debate performance Thursday night, the McCain campaign appears to have taken the shackles off of Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and is finally “letting Sarah be Sarah” as conservatives have urged for weeks.

The move is already paying dividends, as Palin has unleashed a stinging diatribe against Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

She…slammed Barack Obama calling him disqualified to be President of the United States, “Some of his comments that he has made about the war…in my world disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander in chief.” Palin said, “Some of his comments about Afghanistan and what we are doing there supposedly– just air raiding villages and killing civilians. That’s reckless. So I wanted to talk about things like that. So I guess I have to apologize about being a little annoyed [in previous media interviews], but that is also an indication of being outside that Washington elite and being outside the media elite also and just wanting to talk and just wanting to talk to Americans without the filter and let them know what we stand for.”

Laura Ingraham: PITA

Radar Online has published a pretty equal-opportunity attack on the television pundits who are most hated by the insiders who have to work with them.  A lot of names on the list are those you would expect (namely Bill O’Reilly, whose incredible and quite vulgar Inside Edition era flip-out and its various musical remixes are the stuff of YouTube legend).  Other well-known tools profiled are Olbermann and Matthews.
