Weekly jobless claims “unexpectedly” jumped to 500,000 – a half-million – last week, up from the previous week’s reading of 488,000, which was adjusted upward from what was previously reported. Analysts – who based on performance should apparently join the ranks of the unemployed – had, of course, expected a drop.
