RINO Michael Smerconish really, really wanted that job at MSNBC. He wanted that job so badly that he backed himself into a corner playing footsie with Barack Obama.
He dealt with the embarrassment that came when a sports / comedy broadcaster on a sort-of-but-not-really competing station did a more newsworthy interview with Obama than he did during the Pennsylvania primary. Angelo Cataldi at WIP got the “my grandmother is a typical white person” money quote. Smerconish guided Obama through his stump speech. It didn’t matter. He had his eye on the prize: A cubicle with a view of Keith Olbermann.
What was a RINO to do when, after all his hard work at abandoning every principal he claimed to hold, the powers that be at MSNBC decided Rachel Maddow is more telegenic than him? He can’t back down now. He has to follow through.
Mr. Integrity is about to endorse the most liberal member of the US Senate. A former member of the socialist “New Party” with entire portions of his personal history he refuses to discuss. The guy who gave $800,000 to an organization involved in the most wide ranging attempt at voter fraud our country has ever seen. The guy who blocked Illinois’ “Born Alive Infant Protection Act” because the concept of an unencumbered “right” to abort a baby was more important than an actual living baby.
A guy whose long-time political mentor terrorist buddy has a picture of Mumia Abu Jamal taped to his office door in tribute.
Michael Smerconish lit up the phone lines and filled his in-box this morning at his WPHT show with word that he’s planning to vote for Barack Obama — marking the first time since he registered to vote 28 years ago that he’ll pull the Democrat lever for president.
He’ll explain all in his Sunday column in The Inquirer’s Currents section — as much as he can do in 750 words. The intro reads: “John McCain is an honorable man who has served his country well. But he will not get my vote.”
I wish I could say I care what this guy has to say after this. Unless it’s “Obama has pictures of me in a comprimising position,” I doubt I’d believe it anyway. After the initial burst of interest, I hope he enjoys his Air America worthy ratings.
You cannot deeply hold any traditionally conservative value and see your way clear to voting for Obama. He is against even the most basic of them.
I hope Smerconish has a gameplan for his future that involves a position where credibility is not a requirement.

Congratulations to Michael Smerconish on becoming the latest RINO coward. I had extremely high respect for him for his pitbull like pursuit of justice for Daniel Faulkner. But I guess his own opportunistic pursuit of fame trumps what he led readers of “Murdered by Mumia” to be believe was important.
I suppose Senator Government’s well practiced routine of not answering any difficult unscripted question with a direct answer somehow satisfied Mr. S. When he asked that one about his position on Mumia, he responsed, “I haven’t, only because the details of this event, you know, I’ve never studied.” (philly daily news 10/10/08) Are we really supposed to believe Mr. Harvard law review never heard any details of the case of the Hollywood left’s poster child for their anti-death penalty movement? I guess Senator Second Coming never thought to ask his mentor/random neighbor Ayres who that copkilling dirtbag was on his office door.
How does it feel Michael to be on the same side as Mumia and all his friends?? You are now exactly what all those Mumia supporting celebrities you deride are a pathetic talking head sellout.
All his feigned ‘love’ of justice….
All his talk of social justice…….
Bogus. Smerconish is consumed with his own guilt of success, not to mention his upbringing in Norman Rockwell-like Doylestown.
Same with Colin Powell who just endorsed Obama.
Powell would never have enjoyed such success, such respect, had he been living in a country that was governed by the principals and people now espoused by Barack Obama.
Heck, Obama was over in Africa a year or two ago campaigning for Raila Odinga, who wants to impose harsh Sharia law on that nation.
My morning radio long ago switched to Bennett’s show, which is not nearly as entertaining and informative, but at least it isn’t consumed by guilt in supporting a candidate like McCain who, for all his flaws, represents the essence of American goodness.
Did anyone catch Smerconishitz rant at Mike Gallagher today on Gallagher’s radio show?
Man, Smerconish went off when Gallagher had the gaul to question Smerconish’s motives by saying, “Man there must be something else going on here…. some reason ” you support the most radical member of the Senate over a decent man like McCain…. — or something like that.
Smerconish is so sensitive…. just like the normal Obama worshiper should be, I suppose.
Mike simply sold out for a high paying TV gig… this guy never had any integrity from the get go and was always about the money. He was never a conservative, fiscally or socially Mike was a Med-MAl trail lawyer. Word on the street is that he was guaranteed Glen Becks spot and a large signing bonus for the endorsement. WOW talk about the corruption and it’s ties to CNN and MSNBC.
In the end Mike really played his listeners swell.. But I’m sure going head to head against Bill Bennett was hurting his wallet anyway. If you ask mike he’ll tell you that he does tell you how to make a living so don’t tell him. Baloney no one would pay this money from an endorsement from a non enity. It’s the influence that he sold and he should at least be honest. Made his deal with the devil. Life is long GOD BLESS and best of luck.
I’ve known for years that Smerconish was a phony, even as far back as his Faulkner crusade. I knew it was always about him and the attention he could bring to himself and of course, WPHT, the station he always wanted to work for full time. Once he got his wish several years ago, his eye was on his next prize, national syndication or the 24/7 nets.
What would you expect from a former ambulance chaser?
Smerconish just “outed” himself as the closet liberal (and opportunist) we know him to be. Were we surprised? Nah!
first of all smerconish refers to himself as a “philly guy” when he is really a doylestown rich boy. funny he joins mumia supporters in their backing of hussein obama, SAD. Now he joins those miserable non factors, oberman, mathews and maddow.guess hes getting ready for the fairness doctrine, total weasel.
