Slap on the Wrist for Levittown Street Gang?

Ben Finley of The Courier Times is reporting that the 5 youths implicated in Saturday night’s gang attack in Levittown’s North Park (Falls Township) will be charged as juveniles. Police have determined that the attack was likely random.  Not comforting.

Referring to the gang as “kids” and “boys and girls,” Finley describes the vicious attack.

The kids - four boys and a girl - allegedly bummed a cigarette from an 18-year-old man before attacking him from behind, stealing his cigarettes and his shoes, Lt. Ron MacPherson said. He said the attack, about 10 p.m. on Saturday on North Park Drive in Falls, appeared to be random.

According to the victim’s sister, the 18-year-old suffered a concussion, a sprained neck and back, an injured ear and a chipped tooth. He was taken to Frankford Hospitals’ Bucks campus where he was treated and released, she said.

The sister said the girl who was with the victim also suffered an asthma attack during the attack.

Maybe the youths are all 17-years old, and we can look forward to them being released from Juvenile Detention with clean records within a year.

Why isn’t this being taken seriously?  Does someone need to get killed by maurauders before we do?

I’m sure this all has something to do with the rest of us having to understand their tough lives in the suburbs.
