If Barack Obama had it all to do over again, something tells me he’d invite Kwame Kilpatrick and John Edwards to the Democrat Convention and disinvite Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and President Bill Clinton.
Rendell is a great phony, so his slaps at Obama can’t really be explained away as “it’s hard to say things you don’t mean, and it leads to mistakes.” Hillary supporter Rendell is great at saying things he doesn’t believe in a convincing manner. You have to believe Fast Eddie really wants to telegraph Obama’s many weaknesses when he does things like compare Barack Obama to failed 50s Democrat Presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson.
“He is a little like Adlai Stevenson,” Rendell mused. “You ask him a question, and he gives you a six-minute answer. And the six-minute answer is smart as all get out. It’s intellectual. It’s well framed. It takes care of all the contingencies. But it’s a lousy soundbite.”
“We’ve got to start smacking back in short understandable bites,” he said, noting “Everybody is nervous as all get out. Everybody says we ought to be ahead by 10, 15 points. What the heck is going on?”
As a side note: “As all get out?” Twice? Did he ride away from the interview in a Studebaker on his way to the sock hop?
Also today, Bill Clinton continued his “Barack Obama is an Unqualified Ineffective Jackass” tour.
