The spokesman for Governor Ed Rendell provided a rare window into how emotional and passionate the Rendell administration is about rasing taxes on working Pennsylvanians when he called the Commonwealth Foundation’s Matt Brouillette a “flaming asshole” at a news conference this morning according to Brouillette.

Brouillette, at the Governor’s news conference to provide materials about balancing the budget without tax hikes to the media, was also told he would be barred from future news conferences.

We showed up with our billboards saying “Yes, We Can!” balance the budget without raising taxes. I also had a news release and Budget Facts on education spending to provide to the media.

Well, the Guv’s spokesman, Chuck Ardo, didn’t like us being there so he told me I couldn’t hand out our information. I told him that the room was a public place, it was a news conference, and that I would continue to hand out our information. He then threatened to have me removed…which never happened.

So after the news conference, after providing TV, print, and radio reporters with the other side of the story, Chuck decided to confront me again. He called me a “flaming a$$hole” and vowed to keep me from coming to the Governor’s news conferences in the future.

The Governor and his peeps sure do get testy when it looks like they won’t be able to bust taxpayers’ household budgets with a 16% Personal Income Tax hike.  The Pennsylvania House GOP announced last week that the prospect of a PA PIT hike was all but dead.

Tax hikes are like mother’s milk to Rendell, and Rendell is hungry for a tax feeding.  Apparently, it’s making him and his administration a little cranky.
