Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has invited presumptive Republican Presidential nominee John McCain to see ANWR for himself.
While McCain has indicated support for domestic offshore oil drilling, he remains against drilling on 2000 acres in Alaska’s Arctic Natural Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Palin, rumored to be under consideration as McCain’s running mate, thinks he’d change his mind if he were to see that the proposed drilling area is a barren, uninhabitable tundra.
“I’m asking him to come up and see ANWR,” Republican Gov. Sarah Pallin told [reporter John Gizzi] Saturday during the centennial meeting of the National Governors Association [in Philadelphia].
As to her discussions so far with McCain, Palliln said “We agreed to disagree.” But, she quickly added, “I am encourged with his evolved thinking on offshore drilling and I think he might come along on ANWR if he sees our 2000 acres for himself.”
