To look at the Republican Party in 2008 is to understand just how long the road to 2010 is. Our standard bearer until 10 days ago supports amnesty for illegal aliens, derailed our attempts to get our judges approved by the Senate and co-sponsored the law that lost him the election. Our rock star is the target of an unhinged (and sometimes flat-out deranged) media who cut her interviews, throw them in the air, and paste them together to paint her in the worst possible light. And our back-benchers are a bunch of sniveling, complaining whiners.

MIAMI (CNN) — Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors’ unity — but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.
The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.
One called it awkward: “I’m sure you could see it on some of our faces.”
Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was “odd” and “weird,” and said it “unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party.”
There has been palpable tension among some GOP governors gathered in Miami that Palin has been sucking up all the media oxygen.
At least Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour separated himself from the grow-a-pair bunch.
“That’s just somebody running down a rabbit trail. There’s plenty of oxygen here,” he said.

Frankly, after the events of the last three months, I think she has earned some spotlight. If any of the other governors want some attention, they best get some skin in the game post haste.
Frankly, Palin is the only one who has the gonads to really change the landscape in DC.
