I wrote about the issue of Barack Obama’s Civilian National Security Force back in July, a short time after it was suggested in one of Dear Leader’s speeches. I think it’s an issue that deserves renewed and intensified attention because I’m seeing suggestions here and there that Obama may not have an agenda that borders on the Fascistic.
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
Lest anyone think those chilling words are somehow taken out of their full context, the complete 26+ minute speech is here. The passage in question comes at about 16:40. You can try to scroll around in the whole video and find some context where this doesn’t make you crap your pants a little bit. I couldn’t.
How was this policy proposal never once mentioned by any member of the media? Why was he never asked about this? How does this tie in with his plan to compel youths into mandatory community service?
If it’s not the military, designed to protect us from international threats, and it’s not the police, designed to protect us from threats within our communities, then exactly what is it? And why does it need to be as “powerful” and “well-funded” as the whole of the US military? The military budget is $440 billion a year. Exactly what “national security objectives” cannot be met within the constraints of the US military? Is the only reason the National Guard cannot fulfill this function that they are under the control of the States and he wants to be able to control this force? How would this square with the Posse Comitatus Act?
Until this is properly explained, I will continue to believe that an Obama administration will leave us with a version of America radically different from the one in which we’re living now in more ways than tax policy and health care.
