The House of Representatives version of the Obamacare bill, which will reportedly be jammed through the body to a vote this week by the Democrats who control the body, has a provision that describes menally handicapped people as “retarded.”
In 2009, most people outside of the Democrat caucus in DC know that term isĀ considered offensive.
The bill refers to: “A hospital or a nursing facility or intermediate-care facility for the mentally retarded . . .”
The phrase could cause more problems with groups for the developmentally disabled, who were angered when President Obama referred to his poor bowling skills on “The Tonight Show” as “like the Special Olympics.” Obama later apologized.
No word on whether Obamacare will contain coverage for “cripples,” “nut cases” or “midgets” in addition to “the mentally retarded.”
