Now that his deep connections to the unapologetic domestic terrorist are clear, Barack Obama is floating a new line of lies in trying to explain away his relationship with William Ayers: “I didn’t know his past.”
This new tactic was employed by both Obama’s campaign manager David Axelrod and the campaign’s communications director Robert Gibbs on CNN.
For this to be the case, Obama would have to be painfully unaware of the world around him. Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn are local celebrities in Chicago, and their involvement with the violently revolutionary Weather Underground is well-known.
Remember this comes from the candidate who also claims to have been unaware of the anti-American racist spewings being tossed around in his church of twenty years by the pastor and spiritual mentor about whom he had written books.
Of course, Obama could claim he wasn’t privy to word-of-mouth information dissemination about Ayers. It gets a little harder to deny, however, when you learn that Ayers’ violent past was written about extensively in the press during the 1994-1996 time-frame when Ayers and Obama were establishing their working relationship. That was the time when Chicago media started looking back at the turbulent 1968 Democrat Convention in anticipation of the 1996 Democrat Convention they’d be hosting. Of course, the past violent radicalism practiced by one of the city’s most notable citizens was a large part of that coverage.
Publications like USA Today and the Chicago Tribune mentioned Ayers repeatedly during this time. Redstate notes:
At the height of this exposure, major media outlets were quoting Bill Ayers and pointing out his radical past.
What else happened in 1996 when the media was reminiscing about the Democratic Convention of 1968, and interviewing key players like Bill Ayers?
Bill Ayers held a fundraiser for Barack Obama.
And we’re really supposed to believe Obama did not know, by 1996, given all the major media coverage of the 1996 Democratic Convention going back to Chicago despite the 1968 riots — including local and national media interviews with Bill Ayers on the subject — that Obama did not know?
You’ve got to be kidding me.
Yet the Obamedia continues to take every new attempt at whitewashing Obama’s radical associations at face value, airing the campaign’s talking points while never presenting the other side of the story except when they can frame it as a “smear.”
