Obama A Bomb: Candidate Implodes at Forum

The Barack Obama campaign and his thousands of press secretaries in the Mainstream media are beside themselves today after the candidate’s disastrous performance at yesterday’s Saddleback Civil Forum on Presidency.

The first time the two major Presidential candidates were in the same environment, being questioned separately, Senator McCain came across as compelling, direct and in control. Without his trusty teleprompter, Obama turned in a stammering, stuttering and incoherent performance during which he seemed confused and unsure of where he stood on today’s major issues.

It was so bad that even his most strident supporters on the left couldn’t defend the outing, publicly wondering where it all went wrong for Obama.

“Why this can’t be our Obamessiah, ‘The One,’ the greatest public speaker of a generation.”  When McCain’s commercials say Obama isn’t ready to lead, we assumed he meant lead the nation.  After last night, however, it’s clear Obama isn’t even ready to lead a high school debate squad.  It was that bad.  In response to an innocuous and basic question on abortion, the man who would lead a nation actually said “Answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade” to derisive chuckles from the audience.  Has he really not thought the issue through?

And that was one of his more direct and coherent answers.  For the record, McCain simply and directly answered “At the moment of conception” to the same question.

Of course, there can only be one reason the candidate performed so horribly: McCain cheated and listened in on Obama’s segment.  That doesn’t even make sense.  McCain performed well without a doubt, but the two were not going head to head.  How could McCain have effected Obama in any way?  McCain didn’t make Obama suck.

UPDATE: As it turns out, McCain wasn’t even in the building during much of Obama’s suck-fest and couldn’t have heard Obama blowing his segment. It should come as a surprise to no one that the New York Times somehow manages to turn the fact that McCain wasn’t even in a position to hear Obama’s implosion into something sinister.

Team Maverick is having none of it.

Nicolle Wallace, a spokeswoman for Mr. McCain, said on Sunday night that Mr. McCain had not heard the broadcast of the event while in his motorcade and heard none of the questions.

“The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous,” Ms. Wallace said.
