Within minutes of failed President Obama’s announcement that General David Petraeus would be taking over from recently jettisoned General Stanley McChrystal as commander in Afghanistan, a page trumpeting liberal activist group MoveOn.org’s famous “General Betray Us” ad could no longer be found on their web site.
Google’s cache indicates that the page existed on the site as recently as June 19, 2010 East Coast time. The removal was noticed by Free Republic member going by the name of “an amused spectator.” The page now redirects to one on the site designed to collect email addresses.
The “General Betray Us” ad, which ran in the New York Times on September 21, 2007 and is still available via PDF, calls the Obama appointee “a military man constantly at war with the facts” and incorrectly states that “every independent report on the ground situation in Iraq shows that the surge strategy has failed.”
Speculation about communication between the incompetent Obama White House and the lackeys at MoveOn.org about removal of the ad ahead of the announcement abounds.
