Matt Schneider at Mediaite wonders why FOX News’ Glenn Beck (2,334,000 viewers Monday at 5PM) is not responding to taunts by MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell (817,000 viewers Monday in Prime Time).
Schneider goes on to praise the little-watched O’Donnell for “true intelligence as he boxes Beck into an awkward position.”
What’s really awkward is that Beck has nearly three times the audience of O’Donnell, who lost about half of Keith Olbermann’s audience.
The real question is this: Why hasn’t Mediaite’s Matt Schneider yet responded to my criticism of his faulty logic? How’s that for true intelligence?
Truth is, it’s doubtful Beck even knows who O’Donnell is. Believe it or not, nobody – outside Mediaite and Newsbusters and probably the President when he can find time between golf and vacation and starting illegal wars – even watches MSNBC anymore.
O’Donnell asks “how long will [Beck's] audience allow him to be wrong” when every new day turns out not to be the end of the world? Then O’Donnell launched into a lengthy critique of everything about Beck, suggesting that unlike Beck, Thomas Jefferson and most educated followers of religion know not to take passages of the Bible literally. Finally, in a cryptic and intense monologue, O’Donnell revealed just how much he is enjoying tormenting Beck.
About as much, I suspect, as the insignificant flea enjoys tormenting the giant elephant. The elephant doesn’t notice the flea, either, though.
