Just about every US administration since the 1940s has had a handful of “czars;” officials appointed by the President of the United States to tackle specific, usually high-profile, issues.

Barack Obama has taken the appointment of the czars to a new level, naming czars to handle issues ranging from “California Water” to “Urban Affairs” and everything in between in an attempt to circumvent the US Constitution and fill the government with cabinet-level officials with no accountability to anyone but Barack Obama.

Obama enjoys a filibuster-proof majority in the US Senate.  He could put whomever he wanted in any official, constitutional position.  The only reason to install these czars and circumvent the US Constitution is the public outcry that would result when their backgrounds were exposed.  To avoid scrutiny, he names them to incredibly powerful positions by dictate.

Of the 32 Obama czars Buff was able to verify using traditional mainstream media sources, only 8 existed under the Bush administration.  It appears Obama has quadrupled the number of czars.
