After just two days, the politics surrounding mess in Libya are already unraveling, with the Arab League sounding like they’re pulling the support that led Obambi into this mess in the first place and our own befuddled Secretary of Defense Gates backpedaling and lowering expectations by saying “I…think that is unwise to set as specific goals things you may or may not be able to achieve.”
Yeah, who wants goals in a military operation?
Democrats in Washington are already talking about impeachment over Obama’s illegal war, and the failed President seems to be at odds with himself over whether he has the authority to unilaterally order such a mission.
Barack Obama – 12/2007 : “The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.
As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.”
Thank God we have a top notch military, because the civilians in charge are a complete mess.
Seeing the situation devolve, Obama loving liberals are frantically searching for someone – anyone – to blame other than the man who claims to be the Commander in Chief and the leader of the free world.
One liberal, amateur gynecologist Andrew Sullivan, thinks he’s found his scapegoat. John McCain. And the he-man-woman-hating Sullivan throws in Hillary Clinton for good measure.
That’s right. The guy who is obsessed with Sarah Palin’s infant child thinks the guy who lost the Presidency in 2008 is somehow responsible for Obama’s bad decisions and the execution of those decisions.
From the Chris Matthews Show:
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Was the President wrong initially to say Gaddafi must go, getting in so far ahead of everybody?
ANDREW SULLIVAN, THE ATLANTIC: Well, I don’t think it’s wrong for a President of the United States to issue an opinion about some madman like Gaddafi. I do think that the American public might have been consulted before the United States goes to war. I mean, we now got, you know, the President tells people after the fact? I mean, you know, we go into a Middle Eastern country, we don’t know the consequences, it’s been hatched by Hillary and McCain. I mean, what could go wrong?
SULLIVAN: I mean, when you think about it. And I think it, I’m just, I’m just, I don’t know why anybody voted for Obama in the primaries. I mean this is a, this, this initiative, this, this, this no-fly zone, this war essentially, is, is a Hillary-McCain concept.
