Lara Logan Brutally Beaten And Raped In Egypt

CBS News war correspondent Lara Logan was brutally beaten and gang raped in Egypt Friday while covering the aftermath that country’s overthrow of its previous President.

Logan and her crew were surrounded by an unruly mob numbering in the hundreds during the mass celebrations following the ouster of Hosni Mubarak when she was isolated from the crew and “suffered a sustained and brutal sexual assault.”  She was later rescued by another group consisting of women and 20 Egyptian soldiers.

Logan returned to the US the next day and is hospitalized.

“She is currently in the hospital recovering,” CBS said, without elaborating. “There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.”

Logan is one of nearly 140 news correspondents who have been injured or killed since Jan. 30 while covering the political unrest in Egypt, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

In all the jubilation about Egypt’s new political situation, lets remember we have no idea about who is going to be in charge there and what the true nature of or motivation behind this “bloodless revolution” really is. Clearly there’s an animalistic element to at least some of the crowds gathered in Cairo.

NOWHERE has it been reported that she was “gang raped”. Nothing like a little embellishing! VERY unprofessional, to say the least!

    Taken from the NY Post:
“The separation and assault lasted for roughly 20 to 30 minutes, said a person familiar with the matter, who added that it was “not a rape.”
