An illegal immigrant awaiting deportation is accused of assaulting and attempting to rape a woman in the parking lot of Kohl’s in Bensalem early yesterday evening.
Police say 34-year old illegal alien Ramon Ramirez assaulted and attempted to rape the victim in the parking lot Street Road and Knight’s Road at 5:40 PM Tuesday.
Detective Eliot Gross heard a female screaming in the parking lot as he was conducting an investigation around 5:40 p.m.
Gross ran toward the screams and the female victim told him she had been assaulted and that the suspect fled through the parking lot.
Gross chased the suspect on foot and was able to track him down not far from the scene.
Ramirez was charged with attempted indecent sexual assault, simple assault, and related offenses.
It was later determined that there was an active warrant for Ramirez out of California for burglary and an active administrative warrant for removal from the U.S. through Immigration Custom Enforcement due his illegal U.S status.
I’ve noticed groups of what I’ll charitably describe as apparent day workers – if I was being cynical I’d say apparent homeless, but I’ll be kind and say they could be looking for work – wandering around this intersection and through the parking lots of the adjacent shopping centers a lot lately.
