We Pennsylvanian Conservatives might as well throw in the towel on this whole Presidential election, right? Real Clear shows Obama with an 11-point lead in our state, and InTrade has him at an 86% chance of winning. Our Governor and Secretary don’t care that ACORN is registering cartoon characters at fake addresses in our largest counties to the point where a former Supreme Court Justice says fraud may make a fair election impossible in PA.
Doom. We’re doomed, I tell you.
If that’s so, then why did Fast Eddie Rendell send two letters to the Obama campaign in five days, practically begging them to send the candidate and heavy-hitters Bill and Hillary Clinton back to Pennsylvania for at least three more visits?
(CNN) — Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell has sent two separate memos to the Obama campaign in the past five days requesting that the Democratic Presidential candidate—as well as Hillary and Bill Clinton—return to campaign in Pennsylvania, Rendell told CNN’s Gloria Borger.
Rendell said the McCain campaign is clearly making a push to win Pennsylvania, given the recent visits by the Arizona senator, his wife and his running mate. As a result, he wants Obama to appear in western Pennsylvania, Harrisburg and one more “large rally” in Philadelphia. Democrats generally worry that the race is significantly closer than what recent polls have suggested. According to Rendell, there is also worry among Democrats the McCain campaign has successfully raised the enthusiasm level among Republicans in the state.
“I don’t want to be selfish,” Rendell said. “But I’m still a little nervous, so I have asked Obama to come back. We understand he’s got demands from 20 different states, but we’d like to see him here.”
You take that and add the reported Obama internal poll showing a 2-point race in Pennsylvania, and it’s pretty easy to conclude we’re being taken by a ride by these media pollsters.

Steve:
I can only hope that you are correct. It’s hard to tell whether the frenzy over Obama is coming from anticipation or an effort to subdue the McCain vote. It may be reminiscent of the 2004 exit polls in the east and in that case it was subversive. My only reason for leaning toward the latter is that so much of the media have their reputation vested in an Obama victory. Ratings and circulation figures do matter and depend a great deal on the ability to “correctly” forecast outcomes. I don’t know if people care that much any more about opinion vs.news, as virtually everything except “box scores” has an opinion component; but, people still care about getting it right. If they get this wrong, it will not only deal a severe blow to the extreme left, but will alter the media landscape forever.
