Sean Hannity was a different broadcaster when I started listening to him on the radio back in late 1998. Before the syndication deal and books and in the infancy of his FOX News gig, his show felt kind of like a tooth where the nerve is exposed and all it’s going to take is one drop of cold water sipped the wrong way to send a shock wave.
It’s a totally different deal now. Hannity has kind of formatted all of the interesting, or at least the things that make radio interesting to me, right out of the show. The things that make radio more personal and compelling than TV have been removed. He’s done well for himself with it, but, in all the polish, I miss the occasional raw edge.
I saw a flash of old, raw Sean tonight, interestingly on his FOX News television show, as he debated Islamic radical Anjem Choudary.
