PA House District 142 challenger Frank Farry is one of the area’s most promising Republicans currently making a rise through local party ranks. Farry received a surprise unsolicited endorsement from US Senator Arlen Specter earlier this month in his bid to unseat Democrat Chris King.
It’s lucky for the Schaffner family of Lower Southampton Township that Farry has been out introducing himself to potential constituents door-to-door. If he hadn’t been, the family would likely have not been aware of the blaze in their propane grill, or at the very least they’d have had to wait for a fire crew to arrive to douse the dangerous blaze.
Farry, who is also the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company chief, alerted the family before grabbing a hose and putting the fire out himself.
“A neighbor pointed out smoke in the area and we rounded the property and there was a large fire on the side of the house, a gas grill on fire,” Farry said. “When we knocked on their door it wasn’t to campaign — it was to get ’em out.”
And get out they did, Schaffner, her two daughters, 23 and 21, and her mother who uses a wheelchair. Then they watched as Farry fought the fire with a garden hose.
Lower Southampton Fire Co. Chief Steven Krippel said Farry contained the fire while it was still fueled by the propane tank before extinguishing it. Krippel said it was a dangerous situation because the tank could have exploded.
Although anyone in Harrisburg who is a member of Pennsylvania’s Democrat Caucus, the party that brought you Bonusgate, should be vulnerable, Farry still has a tough road ahead of him. “Kid” Chris King is heavily funded by lefty lobbyist groups and the hack Rendell machine.

You know as well as I do that he was forced out of that job, as his boss was Chris King’s campaign manager.
From the 1/2/08 BCCT:
Farry quit his post, which pays $74,587 a year, after Middletown supervisor Chairman Robert McMonagle, in a one-on-one session after a closed-door township meeting, told Farry he’d lose his job if he didn’t drop out of the state House race.
[...]
So why did McMonagle corner Farry, who as best as we can tell was doing a good job for the township? Farry is a Republican running against incumbent state Rep. Chris King, a Democrat. Here’s the clincher: McMonagle, a Democrat, is King’s campaign manager.

Steven,Robert denies being Chris Kings campaign manager,he does say that he spoke to him about the job though, because it is not permitted! If it was legal,Frank should have stayed! Im glad he steped out of it because it shows he has some class! I dont know anything about him,if someone would say why vote for Frank what would you say?

I would tell that person that Frank Farry has spent a lifetime finding ways to serve his community while his opponent spent a couple years doing just enough to build a political resume sufficient to get him elected to the state house.

“The Hatch Act restricts the political activity of executive branch employees of the federal government, District of Columbia government and some state and local employees who work in connection with federally funded programs.” US .gov website.
Unless Middletown Township was suddenly made part of the federal government in the last week or so, the Hatch Act does not legally apply to Frank Farry.
That said, Farry obviously resigned because he knew the local newspaper rag would focus on McMonagle’s distorted hit-job attacks, and would find a way to make it look like Farry was doing something wrong ….. when in reality, Farry has less-than-nothing to do with obtaining or handling any tiny amount of federal funds that Middletown might (emphasize MIGHT) get from the federal govt.
Oh yeah, the slimy newspaper criticized McMonagle’s ‘firing’ of Farry AFTER the fact….
It’s easy to be a Monday morning saint after the damage it done, isn’t it?
By the way, why doesn’t the newspaper check on what happened recently with McMonagle’s employment situation at a public school district.
