Remember when the media wanted to make sure you knew all about how mean everyone was to Timothy McVeigh or when they went out of their way to get Lee Harvey Oswald’s side of the story from his family?  Yeah, me neither.

But let one of the media’s sacred cows (Muslim extremists) launch a vicious attack one of the media’s favorite boogeymen (the US military) and it’s suddenly all about understanding the inner voice and tortured past of the assailant.

At least it’s that way for ABC News.

Fort Hood shooting suspect, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, wanted out of the Army after being constantly harassed by others in the military and was called a “camel jockey,” his family said.

As Hasan was about to be deployed to Iraq, he was suffering from some of the same stresses that he was trained as an Army psychiatrist to treat.

Although the 39-year-old had just been promoted to major in May, his family says he had hired a lawyer to help him get out of the Armed Forces.

Nice try, ABC.  It was nothing to do with the general “stresses” of war and everything to do with a terrorist praising devout Muslim not wanting to kill his ideological bretheren. There’s a difference.

After all, Hasan had absolutely no problem going to war yesterday against his own country.  He likely killed US soldiers in greater numbers yesterday than he ever would have killed Muslims overseas as an Army doctor.

Sorry you were called a name, Major.  I’m not seeing how it relevant.
