Michelle Malkin reports on a list of books that Sarah Palin supposedly banned or tried to ban from the Wasilla library in 1996. The list is making the rounds on left-wing web sites and through email.
The list a wholesale copy and paste of a list that purports to be “Books Banned in the US at One Time or Another,” and contains several titles that weren’t even published in 1996 when Palin supposedly banned or tried to ban them.
For the record, there is no evidence that any book was removed from the Wasilla library at Palin’s request or that Palin asked to have any specific book removed from the Wasilla library while she was Mayor according to an article from the Anchorage Daily News that appeared on the Boston Herald’s web site.
Malkin identifies the originator of the bogus smear as “Andrew Aucoin”, who posted the list on a librarian’s blog. The blog owner correctly identifies this claim as bogus, but by that time the lie allegedly initiated by Aucoin had already begun to spread.
Verdict: Another smear from the Obama Attack Machine.
