While the US Obama press breathlessly reports on yesterday afternoon’s Obama / Biden burger run (dutifully neglecting to mention that the snob-in-chief ordered his with dijon mustard), the International press reports that the Taliban has fought its way to within 60 miles of the Pakistani (or is that Pahhhhkeeestahhhnnee) capital of Islamabad.
Yes, that Pakistan. Our nuclear-armed ally in the Overseas Contingency Operation formerly known as the War on Terror.

First Lieutenant Travis Manion will receive the Silver Star, the military’s third highest award, posthumously at a public event on the courthouse lawn in Doylestown on December 5.
The Silver Star and Bronze Star with Valor will be presented to 1st Lt Manion’s parents, Colonel Tom Manion and Janet Manion, by Lieutenant General John Allen of the US Marine Corps.
Music legend Paul McCartney has assembled a high-powered security team at a reported cost of $2.8 million to protect himself against threats by Muslim extremists during a concert tonight celebrating the 60th anniversary of Tel Aviv.
Sir Paul, 66, has recruited the team, which includes police, officers from Britain’s MI6 and agents from Israel’s elite Mossad intelligence organisation, in the wake of death threats from Islamic extremists.
About 40,000 fans are expected to watch the ex-Beatle when he plays in Tel Aviv park this evening in honour of Israel’s 60th anniversary.
However, Sir Paul has come under pressure from Arab campaigners to cancel the one-off gig over Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and there have been reports of death threats from Islamic fanatics.

Omar Bakri, a Lebanese Islamic cleric who formerly lived in the UK, says Paul McCartney will be greeted by “sacrifice operatives” if he goes through with a plan to perform at Israel’s 60th anniversary celebration. (via LGF)
“If he values his life, Mr. McCartney must not come to Israel,” Bakri was quoted as saying. “He will not be safe there. The sacrifice operatives will be waiting for him.”
Bakri added, “Instead of supporting the people of Palestine in their suffering, McCartney is celebrating the atrocities of the occupiers,” Bakri was quoted as saying. “The one who is under occupation is supposed to be getting the help.”
The Obamedia is sitting on a bombshell story that, if reported, would dramatically change the tenor of the Presidential race and tear a central plank of the Democrat candidate’s campaign rhetoric right out from under his feet.

Tony Phyrillas points to a strong Letter to the Editor published in Pottstown’s The Mercury. Letter writer Mark Furlong of North Coventry takes Iraq defeatist Patrick Murphy, among others, to task for pre-Iraq War surge comments that would be comedic if they weren’t nearly seditious and didn’t embolden the terrorists we’re supposed to be trying to defeat.

Bush lied, everybody died. We’ve been hearing it for over 5 years now. Wilson / Plame. Sixteen words. All of it. From spitting tingly legged pundits to Presidential candidates, everybody “knows” that Saddam had no WMD and no program to make WMD. Right?
So imagine my surprise at reading this AP article about how we just secretly disposed of all of Saddam’s “yellowcake” Uranium.
