Archive for the Site Stuff Category
November 4, 2008I’ve created a section in our forum for users to post first hand accounts of their experiences on Election Day here in Bucks County.
Note: You need to register separately to post in the forum even if you’re registered as a user on the main site.
For hours (ok, maybe 15 minutes) of fun, visit the Obama Sound Board. You click it, and Barry Hussein says it.
More entertaining than repeatedly making Barack say “That’s just how white folks’ll do ya” is the section of the site featuring prank calls people have made to various Obama campaign offices, one of which I have placed below for your convenience and enjoyment. Warning: Some rough language in a very condescending voice.
Quick meta-question regarding the way the site works specifically related to comments.
The comment package we’re using which allows for “Threaded Comments” (clicking “Reply” directly below the comment you want to reply to, keeping discussions grouped) also allows for an email notification to be sent to a comment author when someone replies to his/her comment. In other words, you’d receive an email when someone replies to one of your comments on the site.
I currently have this turned off, but was wondering if commenters would prefer to be notified via email when someone replies to one of their comments. It would save you the trouble of having to keep checking a post to see if anyone had replied to one of your comments.
It doesn’t matter to me either way - I receive email notification of all comments anyway.
If you want to be notified of replies to your comments, or if you feel that this would result in too many emails coming your way, feel free to leave your opinion either way in a comment to this post or by emailing me using the Contact Form.
I want to make the site as user-friendly as possible, and figured getting direct input from the users on this would be the best way to do that.
I’m happy to announce that I’ve added a forum section to the web site. Now I’m not the only one able to add content to Bucks Right: You are all invited to jump in and start discussions.
The forum section is your voice. Make it what you will. Conservative, liberal, none of the above. Talk about things going on in your neighborhood, things you heard at your barber shop, your town, your street. It’s not only there for politics and government. Talk about your favorite local radio station or your least favorite newspaper.
There are a few rules which are clearly spelled-out in a post.
Users will need to register separately for the forum at this time. I am looking for a work-around.
Please feel free to use and enjoy the Bucks County Virtual Community Center at Bucks Right.
As always, if you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me using the Contact Form or the Private Messaging system on the forum.
