September 25, 2008Red State is reporting that Democrat Senate leader Harry Reid is attempting to sneak an offshore shale oil drilling ban past distracted voters and Senators.
Harry Reid (D-NV) thinking the public and Senate are both distracted by the Paulson plan to bailout Wall Street intends to continue the ban on oil shale drilling.
He is doing it right now.
Call your Senator right now at (202)224-3121 and tell him to tell Harry Reid not to put the drilling ban back in the continuing resolution.
Section 1602 of the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2008 needs to get tossed.
Arlen Specter: 202-224-4254
Bob Casey Jr.: (202) 224-6324 OR (866) 802-2833
After seeing the disastrous reaction to their hoax non-drilling energy proposal, it appears that Democrats are finally ready to give up and let the misguided ban on off-shore oil drilling expire at the end of September.

Congressional Republicans are continuing the session of the House of Representatives this evening, even after the Democrats have adjourned, turned off the lights, turned off the cameras, put on their sun glasses, and gone on vacation.
Democrats like Patrick “Li’l Pat” Murphy have gone home, but Republican members are staging a raucus protest on the House floor, some claiming they will stay until Congress is called back into session to vote for energy independence and others chanting “Vote, Vote, Vote.”
Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas), who was on a plane headed home, went back to the Capitol, walking on to the floor dragging his luggage. He got a standing ovation.
Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) called it a “new Boston Tea Party!”
Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) said he was “not leaving until we call this Congress back into session and vote for energy independence.”
Rep. Tom Cole (Okla.), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said the dimly lit chamber is a “vision of the future by the Democrat Party: The lights are out, there’s no power, and the air conditioning is gonna go off soon.”
Call the DC offices of these brave Republicans who are fighting for our energy independence and thank them for (finally) fighting the do-nothing Democrats.
Not many people have a favorite Congressman, but I think I do now. No, it’s not my Kongresskiddy Patrick “Li’l Pat” Murphy. It’s Texas Republican Louis Gohmert, who introduced a bill (H.R. 6615) that authorizes transport of terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay to the grounds of the US Supreme Court, “where the United States Supreme Court will be able to more effectively micromanage the detainees.”

According to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, taxation is a voluntary process. No lie.
With gasoline prices still hovering at about $4 a gallon and no end in sight to the problems with our shallow supply of oil, the US Congress led by Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Little Bobby Casey and Patrick “sMurphy” Murphy are set to take a one-month vacation without taking any action on the matter.

C. Stephen Allred, assistant US Secretary for Land and Minerals, announced the availability of 3.9 million acres of Alaskan land for oil drilling. All that’s standing in the way of getting this oil and lowering energy costs is a congressional ban on domestic drilling that Democrat congressional leadership refuses to lift.
[NOTE: The New York Times says the area is 2.6 million acres containing 3.7 billion barrels of oil. I've updated the title to reflect the updated information. Perhaps it's a US/UK weights and measures discrepancy]

The votes of Democrat District Eight Congressman Patrick Murphy (PA-8) have earned him a fat goose-egg 0% rating (PDF LINK) out of a possible 100% on protecting worker freedom as reported by non-partisan non-profit advocacy organization Alliance for Worker Freedom.
