Bucks County Dems Attack Dad for Honoring Fallen Hero Son

Shameless local Democrats are attacking Congressional candidate Tom Manion for posting part one of a multi-part online video.  This installment is dedicated to honoring his son Travis.  Travis Manion was a hero Marine killed by sniper fire in Iraq in April 2007.

Tom Manion, hoping to unseat leftist congressman Patrick Murphy, decided to enter the race his son expressed justified disappointment at the crass Iraq Death Counter displayed at Democrat Moonbattery Headquarters in Doylestown in the run up to the 2006 Congressional election.

In his film Letters from Travis, Tom Manion describes Travis’ objection to the death counter:

none of our guys that have given their life over there would think they were honoring them by notching their number up there.

When Travis died, the heartless Democrats notched Travis’ number on the counter to which he so strenuously objected.

Sorry, Tom.  You’re not allowed to honor your son as you see fit.  Democrats are going to damn well tell you how to feel about it, and you’d better listen.

“I think trading on the death of that fine young man for political gain is repulsive,” Mardi Harrison, a Democrat from Doylestown Township, wrote in an online chat room for Bucks Democrats.

Bill Perry, a Democrat from Middletown and executive director of Delaware Valley Veterans for America, said the campaign film was “a real disgrace” to the soldiers who have died in the war in Iraq. Perry, a frequent war protester, said the film made it look like Manion was politicizing his son’s death.

As opposed to the dignified death counter, right?

Not that anyone is going to snap these braying soulless ideologues back to reality, but here’s the truth about Manion’s tribute to his fallen son.

The film…features pictures of Travis and Tom Manion, clips of American soldiers in Iraq, a heart-rending musical score and solemn narration.

The intent of the movie is to show voters why Manion decided to run for Congress this year, according to Jerry Morgan, Manion’s campaign manager. Morgan denied claims that Manion was exploiting the death of his son.

“If you know anything about Tom Manion, you know that the one thing he would never do is exploit the death of a soldier, particularly his own son,” Morgan said.

Democrats are petrified that Bucks County voters will get to know Tom Manion because the contrast with Patrick Murphy is undeniable and very damaging to the possibility of keeping Murphy in power.
