Bensalem Bank Robbery Turns Violent

Police seek a 5′10″ thin dark-skinned black man in his 20s in connection to the violent robbery of Wachovia Bank on Bristol Pike in Bensalem Friday morning.

Police say the man escaped in a green minivan driven north on Route 13 by a female accomplice. Gosh, isn’t the hell town of Bristol Township just a couple miles north of Bensalem on Route 13?  You don’t think they were headed back there, do you?  That would be a shock.

Police said the suspect…walked into the Wachovia Bank on the 700 block of Bristol Pike shortly after 11 a.m. and jumped over the counter. He struck the woman several times with a handgun and demanded money, police said.

The teller was treated for minor injuries by emergency medical personnel at the scene.

There have been quite a few bank robberies in the area recently, but I don’t remember many turning violent like this.  And it seems like, if the report is correct, he was violent from the outset with no provocation.   It’s senseless, and I hope this alleged creep gets the maximum based on that action.

Aren’t bank employees trained to hand over the money based on any demand they get? This makes it seem like the violence was part of the point he was trying to make.  Sick if true.  He would have gotten the same money walking in with no gun and just saying he had one.
