Ayers Comes Clean: ‘Family Friends’ With Obama

Exposing the lie in Barack Obama’s protestations that domestic terrorist William Ayers was just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood” and “somebody who worked on education issues in Chicago that I know,” Ayers now admits in a newly written afterward to his memoir that he and Obama are “family friends.”

During the campaign, Ayers’ friendship with Obama was a favorite subject of conservative bloggers and talk show hosts who insisted the two were closer than the candidate was admitting. Ayers’ new description of the relationship seems to contradict Obama’s statements.

Obama had dismissed Ayers as “a guy who lives in my neighborhood” and “somebody who worked on education issues in Chicago that I know.”

Is it hard to imagine why a candidate boldly lying about his relationship with an unapologetic domestic terrorist and admitted revolutionary communist would be a “favorite subject of conservative bloggers?”  The real question is why it wasn’t a favorite subject, second favorite subject, or even sort-of-worthy-of-being-explored subject for anyone in the mainstream media until after the election.

Now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and an expert on public school reform, Ayers was a member of the Weather Underground, a radical organization that claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings from 1970 to 1974.

Why is Ayers consistently referred to by the dismissive media as a “60s radical” when the group he founded and led (not that he was merely “a member of” as the article says) “claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings from 1970 to 1974?”  Even if you’re going to minimize his actions by just referring to him as a “radical,” wouldn’t he be a 70s radical?

In [the re-issue of his book], Ayers — who did not respond to requests for comment — summarized his relationship with Obama: “[W]e had served together on the board of a foundation, knew one another as neighbors and family friends, held an initial fund-raiser at my house, where I’d made a small donation to his earliest political campaign.”

Now that the truth is being sprinkled out about Obama’s real relationship with Ayers, will his next press conference feature a question regarding why he lied about the relationship for a year?
