Are We Surprised FBI Ignored Hasan’s Radical Ties?

I’ve got to wonder why we’re surprised that the FBI either totally ignored or deemed non-threatening alleged Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan’s communications with Al Qaeda operatives and attendance at the same radical mosque frequented by several 9/11 hijackers.

Are we forgetting who the President is?

We may be seeing the first real-world instance of the “Obama Defense.”  Maybe Hasan will say he sat in the radical mosque week after week and counted radical imam Anwar al-Awlaki as a spiritual mentor, but never really heard what was being said there by his admitted mentor.

It worked for Barack Obama and Reverend Wright.

Or maybe Hasan will admit to communicating with the Al Qaeda terrorists but claim that he was unaware of their violent means of achieving “change,” most of which happened back when he was in high school and college.

It worked for Barack Obama and Bill Ayers.

The media spent most of 2008 drilling the idea that peoples’ radical associations didn’t matter as long as they could talk their way out of it into the public consciousness.  Message received.

This is where political correctness leads… and will ultimately result in our own destruction. When the Army “celebrates diversity” instead of UNITY, there is no wonder why every main stream media outlet paints this as a tragic accident that could have been avoided had the distraught murderer never been teased at some point in his life. Never mind the fact that 300 unarmed soldiers had to flee for thier lives while a 5′2″ police officer steps up to end the tragedy.

“As great a tragedy as this was, it would be a shame if our diversity became a casualty as well,” – Gen. George Casey, Chief of Staff, U.S.Army.
