A Party of Teary-Eyed Basket Cases

“Elect us.  This country is in bad shape and it’s a dangerous world, but we’re the party that’s strong enough to lead this country to a new place of hope and change.  Now excuse us while we openly weep.” - Message of the 2008 Democrat Convention

I get it.  It’s an historic (not “historical,” by the way, TV pundits and news writers at WPHT-AM) moment.  And, although it’s not the “first time in my adult lifetime” I’ve felt this way, I am proud of my country because of it.  But pull yourselves together.  Dry your friggin’ eyes already. There’s no crying in politics.

Is there anyone at the Democrat Convention who is not on the verge of a nervous breakdown? And it’s not just the historic moments, either.  Joe Biden talks about an accident 35 years ago, and the place breaks into hysterics.  Bill Clinton walks on stage - pull out the hankies.  Times when they should be cheering, they’re crying. Times when they should be laughing, they’re crying. Call Homeland Security, because watching television these past three days it seems like someone keeps releasing pepper spray into the Pepsi Center.

There was a time when people got exiled from the Democrat party for crying.

And what was with Joe Biden kissing that girl who appeared to be his granddaughter square on the mouth?
